Hi, I’m Lars.  Thanks for visiting.

I've been fascinated by Japanese history and culture for most of my adult life.  Living in Japan, I fell in love with traditional handmade tableware and the striking variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.  Each piece was beautiful - each complemented the food in its own way and added a sense of art and refinement to every meal.

Through my travels, I began to learn about the history of Japanese pottery, the various regional styles and methods, and how the ceramicware of this small, unknown nation ultimately rose to become the envy of the finest European producers in places like Delft and Meissen.

I also became aware of the myriad challenges faced by today's artisans in fighting to keep these invaluable traditions alive for future generations.

I want to help, and I hope you will too.

Together, we can build new and stronger connections between Japanese artisans and an enthusiastic global audience.  Through this online marketplace, we will teach the history of this fascinating art, raise awareness of issues threatening its survival, and spread the personal stories and perspectives of the artists themselves.

My goal is to create passion.

I want you to be captivated by the simple beauty and unique character of Japanese ceramics.  I want you to feel the history in every bowl or plate, just as the craftsmen do as they handle the clay earth and painstakingly transform it.  I want you to experience how handmade products can connect us to each other and enrich even the simplest rituals and routines in our lives.

So come discover our artists and the magic of their craft.  Introduce yourself to the complex and compelling Japanese aesthetic sense.  Stay current with news and trends across all Japanese art and culture.  Connect with artists, experts, and enthusiasts like you.  And maybe pick up something special to start your own collection.

I hope you’ll be inspired.
